admin answers:
Wireless solutions will always have lower sound quality than wired. Are you trying to eliminate the wire going to the front of the stereo? Your stereo might have a rear input(most likely RCA) that you can use. Try a RCA to headphone jack:( http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2263428 ) this was my solution to remove the front input wire for connecting my ipod.

Mark asks…
Are portable DVD players suitable for adults, too?
Looking at a 9" Philips which seems to have everything needed at a good price. Wondering if 9" screens distort picture more than what a 7" screen would. Anybody know anything about these things?

admin answers:
Obviously, the bigger the better, but it all depends on when/how you would use it.
If you would use it to and from work, carrying it in a bag with not much space, the 7" would be more easier, BUT if you like bigger picture, the 9".

I won a DVD worth Rs.9000 on radio, they have already procured and paid taxes, do i need to still pay the TDS?
Hi,
Just before Diwali, i won on a FM radion on a sponsored program they were running. I was announced a portable DVD player from Philips PET 704. Firstly the station did not approach me for a whole week and finally when i approached them they immediately called me for receiving the gift. I was thrilled as this was my first time i had won.when i reached there to my dismay instead of the gift they asked me to sign on a agreement and also said that i need to pay x amount of TDS for the billed amount, they produced the bill too. My immediate reaction was if this is a gift and you have already paid the taxes and since they are not into the trading business too so their is no TDS that needs to be levied, for which they had no answers and said we will come back to you. I wanted to really verify if their are any TDS implications if yes then why and under what act of the IT laws this is goverened.
regards
Rohit

admin answers:
Yes the deduction of TDS is mandatory, and that have to be deducted before release of any award

Ruth asks…
Portable DVD remote question?
Will so-called "Universal" Remote controls work on Portable DVD players, too?
I'm asking because the portable DVD I bought (A 9" from Philips) has no on-off button, and you have to manually turn it on/off.

admin answers:
Some may and some may not. Depends on the Universal Remote. They are all different.

I have a Philips Dvd player dvp 5982 thats having problems reading my external hard drive (western digital portable notebook 250gb) I just wanted to watch some AVI files off it on my dvd player. You external HD must be self powered (with AC adapter), the usb on the philips does not provide power unlike the ones on the pc's

How do you fix a portable DVD player?
I have an audiovox DVD player that just stopped working one day. It won't charge or come on at all...it's just dead. Any suggestions?

admin answers:
Check the battery and connections, it may be as simple as a bent terminal not making a connection.

Robert asks…
Play Wii on a Portable DVD Player? ?
I have a 9" Audiovox Portable DVD Player which has the red, white, and yellow holes in it and it has a power source. Is it possible to connect it to my Wii and play it on there? I have tried hooking the red, white, and yellow Wii cables into the DVD player, but all I get is the background music and the DVD screen says, "No Disc." Can you help with a solid answer and instructions?

admin answers:
Seems like you have it all except switching the video input, it'll either be a switch somewhere on the device, or in the menu/on the remote. Consult the manual to make sure it is an input and not output (to display onto a TV).

Daniel asks…
Portable DVD player model number?
My dad got me a Audiovox Portable DVD Player for Christmas. I want to get an extra battery for it, but I can't seem to find the model number from the box (Model: PVD73 is what the box says) on the Audiovox.com website for extra batteries, NOR can I even find it in a Google search. Does anyone know anything about this?
Oh and before anyone asks, yes I'm sure it is NOT DVD73 ... it is in fact PVD73
Eliza - The only thing the battery has on it is "This rechargeable Battery (130-774013w012) should only be used with Audiovox PVD73---Do not use with other equipment" and there is nothing near the s/n besides "manufactured October 2007"

admin answers:
Try checking the unit itself. Maybe where the serial number is, it may also have the model number. Or take out the battery and find the model or serial number of the battery from the battery itself. It should be imprinted on there.

Mark asks…
What's the best external battery for a portable dvd player? My toddler needs entertainment on the airplane!!
We are going to be traveling soon and I need additional battery life for our Audiovox portable dvd player. I have seen quite a few external batteries online but am wondering if anyone has an opinion about which one I should get.

admin answers:
Oh please. Kids function fine on planes--better than some frequent fliers actually (and I'm on a plane nearly every week).
As for your question, have you considered trying to book a flight & a seat with a power plug in it? Take a look at http://www.seatguru.com/ They will list the specifics of each seat on each type of plane for each airline, and you can find a seat which has an empower or cigarette style adapter plug. Then you could just get a portable plug for your player (or a DC/AC invertor, but those are heavy) and plug it in for the whole of the flight.
Otherwise, you might want to see if there is some type of adapter that can make use of standard AAA batteries and convert them to your plug.

Laura asks…
Just recieved a brand new audiovox D1420 portable DVD player. Need some help please?
I plugged it in and inserted the dvd and it acts like its loading and then it says NO DISC. I have tried several different discs and none work. I thought even though it has an ac adaptor I might need to charge it first, so I did and still no luck. Anyone have any suggestions or know what I am doing wrong?

admin answers:
Are they recorded DVDs,s or store bought, the player may not be compatible, or it may be damaged sounds like the laser isn't working properly, see if you can exchange it
